Troop Report – August 10 : 8/26/2010 

 

13th August 2010 – Crafts

 A friendship bracelet was made during today’s meeting to symbolize the friendship that we have between us within the troop section. After finishing the bracelet a few games of Connect 4 took place.

 

21st August 2010 – Swimming

Since today was the last meeting before the summer break, a meeting near the beach was held. A game of volleyball was played on the beach and afterwards a game of football followed. Swimming was also part of this meeting.

Troop Report – July 10 : 8/26/2010 

 

17th July 2010 – Knots

Today’s meeting consisted of knotting. The basic knots were revised and all the troop members got to practice what they already knew. Apart from this some new knots were taught so that the scouts could widen their knowledge more.

 

24th July 2010 – Games

Today’s meeting was supposed to be swimming but because of the strong winds which were blowing, games were organized. The meeting began with a game of STOP, and later a basketball game was organized were everyone present for the meeting including the leaders took part.

 

30th/31st July 2010 – Night Hike

Since it has been a long time since the troop went one a hike, a night hike was organized between the 30th and 31st of July. The troop set out on this hike at 8pm from our HQ and after a few hours of walking stopped to eat and sleep for a couple of hours at a field. Upon waking up they continued on the planned route and arrived back at HQ at 8am the following morning.

Summer Camp with the Troop : 8/26/2010 

 

On Monday the 5th of July at 08:00, the troop began to arrive at the campsite. When everybody arrived an explanation of the camp programme and rules was carried out. Soon afterwards, the scouts were divided into their respective patrols and they began working to pitch the ridge tents in which they were going to sleep. When they were ready lunch was served and some rest time followed. In the afternoon a pioneering project was held where the troop built a tower. After finishing the tower the troop prepared the food and the pit for the backwoods cooking. After a delicious meal some board games were organised where the troop had the choice to choose which game they wanted to play.

 

On Tuesday morning after the flag break, inspection and breakfast were held, a scavenger hunt took place where the troop had a lot of fun. Lunch followed together with some rest time and coffee time afterwards. In the afternoon water games were held and dinner followed in the evening. after having dinner the troop watched one of the semi-finals of the world cup – Netherlands vs. Uruguay.

 

On Wednesday the troop had to prepare lunch after the flag break, inspection and breakfast took place. While some of the scouts chopped the ham, onions and mushrooms into tiny pieces, some others began to boil water for the penne. After the lunch which consisted of penne with white sauce was served, the troop had some rest time. In the afternoon it was time for crafts where in groups of two they had to do a kite. After finishing the kite, dinner was served. In the evening the troop went to watch the second semi-final of the world cup which was Spain vs. Germany.

 

Thursday was the last day at camp for the troop. After the flag break, inspection and breakfast, beach games were organised where the scouts had an amazing time. Lunch was then served and some rest time followed afterwards. In the afternoon the troop had some time to try out the skits which they were going to perform during the campfire. Afterwards, the troop helped in arranging the campsite to be ready for the barbeque by setting out tables and chairs and preparing for the campfire. During the barbeque, the troop also helped in the bar. When everyone finished eating it was time for the campfire where the troop performed their skits. After the campfire was over, the troop all went back home exhausted but happy after a 4 day camp J

Troop Report – June 10 : 8/26/2010 

 

5th June 2010 – Games

Today’s meeting consisted of board games were the troop had to think well before playing their turn. The scouts had a choice of Monopoly and Cluedo. Those who played monopoly had to think well before buying houses so as see which buildings gave them the greatest profit. Those playing Cluedo had to find out who was the murderer, in what room the victim was killed and with what.

 

12th June 2010 – Lashings

Since the group’s summer camp will take place within a couple of weeks and the troop will be doing a pioneering project, today’s meeting consisted of lashings. During the meeting the troop got to practice the square and diagonal lashings. Afterwards a game of stop was played.

Troop Report - May 2010 : 1/7/2010 

 

1st May 2010 – Games

Today’s meeting consisted of physical activities and games. We began by playing a game of stop so as to warm up a bit. After a few minutes we went to an open space which is situated near our headquarters to play a wide game. 

8th May 2010 – Communication

Today’s meeting was about communication by Frank Muscat. We began with an ice-breaking game so that everyone gets to know each other better. Then we played a game where one of the scouts had a piece of paper with drawings on it and he had to explain to the others what was drawn on the paper. Afterwards the leader told a story to one of the scouts and everyone them had to tell the same story to the next one to see how the story ended. 

15th May 2010 – First Aid

Mr Mario Saliba from the Red Cross was invited to show us some first aid tricks. The meeting kicked off with a short power point presentation about bleeding and how to treat them. Then Mr Saliba showed us how to apply bandages and each scout was given the opportunity to bandage and to be bandaged. The meeting finished off by a table tennis tournament.  
 

22nd May 2010 – Crafts

Today’s meeting consisted of making a woggle with some rope. Mark Muscat gave the instruction and helped the troop to make their woggle. Those who are fluent in knots helped the others who are not that good to finish their woggle. Afterwards a game of stop was played. 

29th May 2010 – Cooking

Since the troop will be cooking lunch for everyone during summer camp, a meeting about cooking was held. Spaghetti with white sauce was prepared. Two scouts prepared the spaghetti while the others chopped the mushrooms, ham and onions. After mixing everything together and adding the white sauce everyone began to eat.
