E-S.C.OUT Accepted! : 1/6/2009

It was on the 21st of May that a much awaited e-mail found itself in the inbox of one Assistant Cub Scout Leader.... E-S.C.OUT, a project under ‘Action 1.1: Youth Exchanges’ within the wider ‘Youth in Action’ programme of the European Union had been accepted by the EUPA!! :) :)
Not wanting to jinx the project, we waited until the signing of the contract before informing everyone of our success!
E-S.C.OUT, acronym for European - Sports. Culture. Outdoors is an 8 day camp to be held in Ramla Valley between the 16th and 23rd of August. It encompasses within it activities which reflect the priorities of this programme; mainly European citizenship, the participation of young people, and cultural diversity which will be reached through sports and intercultural dialogue.
22 Participants and 8 Leaders from our group, Ireland, Portugal and Turkey will participate in this project. Both the Unit and Crew have already begun working hard to do the necessary preparations. As for the colony, pack and troop, they are also very eager to see what the older members of the group are up to :)
we will keep you updated as things progress..
until then,
enjoy the dawn of Summer :) :)

'Lejlet Lapsi' Parade : 5/30/2009
On Sunday 24th May 2009, as part of the Lejlet Lapsi activities in Gozo, Xaghra Scout Group was asked to march down Republic Street on Sunday morning along with the Armed Forced Band. So off we went: beavers, cubs, scouts, everyone else and all our flags
Everyone marched really well, from smallest to biggest, and even though it was really sunny and hot, we all endured it and did our duty as scouts while the Armed Forces Band made a wonderful preformance infront of Ninu Cremona Junior Lyceum.

XSG Team thanks Mr. Joseph Gatt for being the official photographer of the parade.

'Tal-Qacca' Banner : 5/28/2009
It has been a while since we have changed our website domain from www.xaghrascouts.org to www.xaghrascouts.com but although our name was changed; it was not the website ‘banner’ which is at ‘tal-Qacca.’ Fr. Jesmond has called once again Mr. Raymond Bonello to make this small but significant shift for many parents, admirers and those who really are interested in scouting and in the Xaghra Scout Group.
For Raymond this was a big hassle to find once again some stickers which fit the size and the same colour that we have used the first time for the coat of arms and the name. Yesterday in fact was really another incredible day when Mr. Bonello called back and with the surprise of all, he found the colour and the sign in plastic paper are ready to stick on. WOW!!! it was so a great news. After Our Anniversary we’ve received much fantastic news. This is one of them. The others…dear admirers are on the pipeline… Probably next week we can tell you. Right now it’s end of May, so everyone is on his or her A’s level’s ask Sabrina or Julie, and they will tell you, or even their Annual or Final Exams at the University of Malta - Daniela’s thesis is ready in fact and Loraine’s exams or on the way. Ajma how boring these times!!!
Good Luck to you all brothers and sisters in scouting. This is the best ‘sign’ that each of us can do for ourselves and for the best of our society right now – studying and preparing for our finals.
From here we would like also to thank Mr. Raymond Bonello for his patience, kindness and wonderful job gratis.

XSG's 1st Anniversary! : 5/17/2009
Today was a very important and memorable day for Xaghra Scout Group for the reason that today, Sunday 17th May 2009, was our first birthday!
This was commemorated by a special mass with participation from everyone in our Scout Group. It all started by marching from our HQ to Xaghra Basilica, where we celebrated the 11am mass. The best part was the homely, which was done by three of our very own members Josmar, Daniela and Loraine, who together showed our community how scouting has changed our lives, and how we do our best to carry our duty towards God, towards our homeland and how we respect the people around us.
Looking back at last year, we all can't believe what a year it has been. On the 18th of May 2008 our group, then consisting of a few cub scouts and 4 scouts, stood on the church parvis receiving their investiture. At the time there were only 6 uniformed leaders, but still very proud and filled with enthusiasm. On that morning they promised that they would always do their duty as scouts, and that they would do their very best in the upbringing of tomorrow's citizens. Today, a year on, we renewed our promise. we realized ourselves and showed the community that what we'd promised a year ago is still alive and growing now. In just a year our group has grown to 74 uniformed members. Our first year was truly an experience. There were moments when we laughed and were truly happy, moments when we thought we were falling apart. We were united at our camp fires, we mastered team work, we also argued and disliked each other at some tough times. but we LEARNED. We learned to accept each other despite our differences, to keep going on and to never look back, to continue doing what we do best. and today as we took our group photo we realized that it was all worth it, and we were sure that our second year would be just as fruitful as our first one, if we continued doing what we all do best, and that is, doing our best and BEING PREPARED.
Last year... (with San Gwann band)

Today...
